Despite its appearance

We have been thrilled with the performance of peacock moss in winter hardiness trials in western Michigan

don't cut the old stalks back until growth resumes in spring

the small clumps are topped with 10" stalks of lavender flowers

and once these are gone it will take years before we have enough to offer them again

Iris cristata Edgar Anderson Rhodophiala Despite its appearanceThis large, vigorous selection of the North American native woodland iris, forms an 8" tall x 2' wide patch. Iris cristata 'Edgar Anderson', which is one of the earliest Iris cristata clones to flower, is topped, starting in early April (NC), with small, light lavender blue flowers, each with a contrasting white throat and a small darker lavender marking at the base of the beard. Iris cristata 'Edgar Anderson' is named after the late iris researcher
