which I think may have lived within it for nearly 200 years

2 3/4" long x 1 1/2" tall x 3/4" deep

and also a 19th century tradition of carving and painting vertebrae to resemble John Wesley (1703-1791)

There is a small chip and repair to the bottom right corner of the back side and a repaired diagonal crack running from the top of the spine to the back top left edge

Somehow, to my eye at least, this manages to feel rather transcendent. 8" x 10," on matte photo paper, and in very good vintage condition
