but I am doubtful that this is meant to be him--and would guess this painting dates to the 1920s or so

I rather like those white stitches as a sort of looser form of mark making on top of the meticulous piecework

and then the nearly identical white letters against black on the flip side

no cracks and just a few small surface chips

Ink on nice weight cream paper, with graphite visible under the ink as all that detail needed some careful sketching first! Paper: 12 3 4" x 9 7 8". Very good condition.
