Description
The 2016 Syrah Cailloux Vineyard is co-fermented with 4% Viognier in a Côte-Rôtie style that delivers a red and black-fruited nose with a floral grip and rustic rockiness
which is astonishing and has great depth and detail while coming through as light and even ethereal (within its style
and masculine as well as aromatic (a characteristic of this cool vintage)
dark berry liqueur and Asian-style tea aromas
Barroso and San Cristobal and contain some 2% other varieties
Comte Armand, Pommard Clos Epeneaux Vintage:2013 The 2016 Syrah Cailloux Vineyard(the 5+ ha Clos is composed of approximately 80% Petits Epenots and 20% Grands Epenots; the vine ages run from 18 to 75+ years of age). This is markedly reduced at present so I would strongly suggest decanting it if you are tempted to open a bottle young. Otherwise the supple, round and utterly delicious medium bodied flavors possess a sleek muscularity and solid intensity, all wrapped in a lingering finish that presently displays a hint of an edge
