Antique Concealment Shoe Found in New Hampshire Homestead wood splitting man this just struck me asI loved finding this one, a "concealment shoe" discovered in the wall of a 1700s homestead in New Hampshire, which I purchased from a MA based dealer during New Hampshire Antiques week. With examples dating to as early as the 1300s in Europe, concealment shoes have been discovered in chimneys, under floors, above ceilings, around doors and windows, in roofs, etc, and are believed to have been placed as charms of sorts, either to protect the occupants
