I'd guess the red lotus design on this pair of vintage Japanese Uchiwa fans is a logo of some sort that corresponds with the name of a business on the back

A perfect, simple design solution to the need to make noise(!), it's also just a great looking object this one with boxed end stained green, and a nice turned handle.
