I am pretty certain this is a snuff box, definitely with a lot of years on it, and my guess due especially to the tulips is that it is Dutch. The relatively crude manner of the engraving, especially the zig zags around the edge and on the leaves of the tulips screams trench art to me, though I am not 100% sure. Of course I love it in the way
