Just as I'm tempted to start a collection of of images of "the void," so am I tempted to start a collection of portraits of people among trees, with this pair, to my eye, about as good as it gets. Considered together, the two photographs make it seem as if there might be an endless field of men in hats scattered throughout an infinite forest, some emerging into view, others remaining hidden in the forest's depths.
