I purchased this pie wheel at the estate sale of a couple in their 90s who had a fantastic collection of primitives

which would pull up in front of the platform to unload milk

and the other drawers open and close with ease

it is just super satisfyingly gorgeous

with a central pattern of large flowers with mirrored centers alternating with  birds on leafy branches

I really love it as an object, with red tin base and head, wooden stem and ear piece, and that terrific green dial, plus original red and white striped cord connecting the ear piece to base. It's a fairly rare one I believe dating to the 1930s or so, and features a bell on the underside that once rang as
