Description
the Tench is a classic Russell Bevan wine built on serious fruit intensity and structure
Offers an appealing grassy aroma characteristic of the '12s
One of my favorite wines
Again there is mildly exotic element to the otherwise appealingly fresh nose that combines notes of both white and yellow orchard fruit that is liberally laced with iodine and quinine nuances
size and weight to the big-bodied and muscular flavors that terminate in a balanced and impressively long finale that could again use better depth
Kumeu River, Coddington Chardonnay other_regions_italy the Tench is a classicThe 2014 Coddington Chardonnay leads with beeswax and brine, pressed white flowers, crushed shells and chalky minerality. The wine is restrained and elegant, mouthfilling in its intensity and showing spicy prowess through the finish. It's very, very good, excellent, in fact. Notions of oak derived (?) bacon fat through the finish boost complexity and interest. There's plenty of time left to go here.
