Footnote: The Kuban Shield was a German Second War decoration awarded to those who fought at the Kuban bridgehead in the Soviet Union. The shield was created on September 21, 1943 and was issued until the Kuban bridgehead was abandoned in October 1943. The award came attached to a piece of cloth
