Constructed of gilded bronze, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, overlaid by a central U Boat, the national and eagle is omitted in the 1957 version, the reverse is plain and bears a vertical pinback with a flat wire catch, measuring 48. 76 mm (w) x 37. 60 mm (h), weighing 31. 3 g, very fine.
