A First War Issued Medal For Merit, Gold Grade United Republic of Velvet lining for the caseTurkey (Ottoman Empire); Bronze gilt, 25. 5 mm, ornate suspension, "1332" (1914) clasp affixed to the ribbon, hanger with pinback, each of the suspension, clasp and hanger hallmarked on the reverse with a six sided star, light contact, extremely fine. Footnote: The Medal for Merit was established in 1870 (1308), as evidence by the date on the reverse. (C: 102)
